About Classica

The tools of learning,
for those who teach them.

In 1947, Dorothy Sayers wrote "The Lost Tools of Learning" and argued that education had lost its way. We are building the tools to help schools find it again.

Classical schools deserve better than generic software.

Most learning management systems were built for standardized testing, Common Core alignment, and compliance-driven education. They optimize for data collection, not formation.

Classical Christian schools operate differently. You teach through the Trivium. You read great books. You form character through houses and community. You care about the soul, not just the score.

So why are you using tools built for a completely different vision of education?

LMS platforms built for them

Purpose-built for the Trivium.

Classical Literature Library

362 works spanning 3,000 years. Homer to Tolkien. Built in. Ready to assign. No other LMS has this.

House System

Points, competitions, leaderboards, and school culture. Because character formation happens in community, not just curriculum.

Socratic Discussions

Three discussion types built for classical pedagogy. Socratic inquiry, narration, and formal debate. Not generic forum threads.

AI with a Worldview

Generate lesson content through the lens of classical Christian education. The AI understands the difference between grammar, logic, and rhetoric stages.

35-Week Lesson Grid

Plan the entire school year at a glance. Built for how classical schools actually structure their academic calendar.

Your Own Digital Campus

Every school gets a branded subdomain, custom colors, and complete data isolation. Your school. Your identity. Your data.

Our Story

Built by a classical school family.

Classica started with a simple frustration. Our kids attend a classical Christian school. We love the school. We love the mission. But the technology? It was held together with spreadsheets, email chains, and a generic LMS that had no idea what narration was.

So we built something better.

Ian is a software engineer. Jen is deeply involved in the school community. Together, they started building Classica because they knew what a classical school actually needs, and they knew it did not exist.

Classica is not a venture-backed startup chasing the next trend. It is a tool built by people who sit in the same parent meetings you do, who care about the same questions you care about, and who believe that classical education deserves technology that matches its ambition.

Our Mission

To glorify God by equipping classical Christian schools with technology that serves their mission: forming students who know what is true, love what is good, and create what is beautiful.

The Trivium, supported at every stage.

Dorothy Sayers identified three stages of learning that correspond to how children naturally develop. Classica is designed to support teachers at each one.

Grammar
Ages 6 to 10

The stage of absorption. Students memorize, recite, and gather the raw materials of knowledge. Classica supports this with narration exercises, structured reading assignments, and the children's classics library.

Logic
Ages 10 to 14

The stage of reasoning. Students learn to argue, analyze, and connect ideas. Classica supports this with Socratic discussion boards, structured debates, and analytical writing assignments.

Rhetoric
Ages 14 to 18

The stage of expression. Students learn to communicate persuasively and beautifully. Classica supports this with thesis defense discussions, the great books seminar format, and advanced writing tools.
